Seething with anger over the US drone strike just ahead of the start of peace talks with the Taliban, PTI chief Imran Khan demanded the federal government block Nato supplies going through Pakistan.Talking to the media at the wedding of PTI Secretary-General Jehangir Tareen’s daughter, the PTI chief condemned the US drone attack in Miranshah that killed TTP chief Hakimulllah Mehsud and others.
Imran said the US is sabotaging efforts to establish peace in Pakistan by drone strikes in the tribal areas bordering Afghanistan. “Whenever the initiatives of peace talks are taken, US drone strikes sabotage them,” he said. The PTI chief said his party would table resolutions for blocking Nato supplies in the KPK Assembly and the National Assembly.
“It (the drone strike) has proved that the US doesn’t want peace in Pakistan,” he added.
Imran Khan said that PTI would also pass a resolution in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly against the drone strikes. He said that the PTI’s Core committee would meet to discuss the drone issue on Saturday (today).KPK Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa needed peace. He condemned attack on the Taliban leadership.
PTI President Javed Hashmi said when the peace process is discussed, it is sabotaged by drone attacks.KPK Speaker Asad Qaisar said that after approval by the Core Committee, session of the House (KPK Assembly) would be called to submit resolution to suspend Nato supply.Imran Khan had said even a day earlier that his party had the capability to stop Nato supplies and warned that his words must not be taken lightly.
